Professor Phinias Makhurane - Chairman

Professor Phinias Makhurane is the Chairperson of the SIRDC Board. Professor Makhurane obtained a BSc degree in Mathematics and Physics at Rhonya University, MSc and PhD degrees in Solid State Physics at Sheffield University, UK and a Post-graduate Diploma in Geophysics at Upsala University in Sweden. He is a Fellow of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers. more

Professor Sara Feresu - Vice Chairperson

Professor Sara B Feresu is the Vice Chairperson of the SIRDC Board. Currently she is the Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies (IES). She holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD degree in Microbiology obtained from the University of Leicester in 1980. more

Engineer John Mberi

Engineer John Munemiwa Mberi is the Chief Executive of Afrosoft Holdings. He holds an MSc degree in Computer Systems Engineering, a Diploma in Business Management and a Certificate in Applied International Management from Sweden. more

Mr William Gwata

Mr William Gwata is the Managing Director of Algorhythm (Pvt) Ltd, a culinary engineering company. Mr Gwata holds a BSc (Hons) degree in biochemistry from the University of Surrey, UK as well as a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from UNISA, South Africa. more

Dr. Gibson Mandishona

Dr. Gibson Manyowa Mandishona is the founder Director of SIRDC from its inception in 1993 and has been its Board Chairman during 1995 – 2005. He holds a PhD (Mathematics) degree from Nottingham University UK. He taught Mathematics in London and at several African Universities. more

Professor Lindela Ndlovu

Professor Lindela Rowland Ndlovu holds a PhD degree in Animal Nutrition from the University of Guelph, Canada, an MSc degree in Agricultural Biochemistry from the University of Wales, UK; and a BSc degree from the University of Sierra Leone. He the is Vice Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology. more

Dr Robson Mafoti

Dr Robson Mafoti is a well-known scientist holding several USA and foreign patents. Dr Mafoti has several years of experience in research and development, acquisitions and operations support with excellent interpersonal skills. He became the Chief Executive Officer of SIRDC in July 2003. more

Mr. Samson Gumbo

Mr. Samson D Gumbo is currently the Director of Work Related Learning at the Midlands State University (MSU). He is a member of Senate and was one of the members of the first MSU University Council. He played a significant role as founder member and chairman of Friends of the University of Midlands Association (FUMA), an Association that sought to establish a University in the Midlands. more

Dr Anesu Ushewokunze-Obatolu

Dr Anesu Ushewokunze-Obatolu is the Director of Veterinary Public Health; Animal Disease Diagnostics and Animal Health Research (Veterinary Technical Services) in the Ministry of Agriculture. She became Zimbabwe’s first woman veterinary surgeon in 1979. more

Professor Christopher Chetsanga

Professor Christopher Chetsanga was the inaugural Director General of SIRDC from its inception in 1993 to mid 2003. He is one of the two survivors from the previous Board. Professor Chetsanga attained a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1969 and immediately became a post-doctoral fellow in the same field at Harvard University until 1972. more

Mrs Judith Kateera

Mrs Judith Kateera attended the University of Zimbabwe and obtained an Honours degree in Economics in 1986. From 1993 – 1994, she studied for a Master of Arts degree in Development Economics at the Centre for Development Economics (CDE) at Williams College, Massachusetts USA. more

Cde George Nyathi

Cde George Nyathi holds a primary school teachers certificate attained in 1976 (UCE), in 1982 an Advanced Diploma in Banking with the Institute of Finance Management in Tanzania (IFM), a Bachelor Of Administration Degree with UNISA in 1990, a Diploma in Bank Credit Management and a Diploma in Advanced Banking Credit Management. more

Brigadier General Justin Mujaji

Brigadier General Justin Itayi Mujaji is an ex-combatant of the war of liberation of Zimbabwe. Currently he is serving in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) as Director General in charge of Planning and Programmes at ZDF HQ. Brigadier General Mujaji is a holder of an MBA degree as well as a BSc (Honours) Economics degree from the University of Zimbabwe. more

Dr Londiwe Nkiwane
