Mr Philemon Kwaramba is the Director of the Business Operations Unit at SIRDC. In this portfolio, he oversees commercialization of SIRDC research output.
Commercialisation of research results at SIRDC is anchored by the Stage Gate Process. Mr Kwaramba holds B Sc and M Sc degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University of Zimbabwe acquired through SACCAR/GTZ sponsorship.
He also holds a post-graduate diploma in Agricultural Engineering Systems Analysis (UZ) acquired through UNDP/SIDA sponsorship and an ACCA Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance (UK).
His work experience include stints as a Research Economist at SADC/ICRISAT and under the Netherlands/DGIS Health Systems Research (HSR) at the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). He also worked on the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)’s Economic Advisory Project (WISO).
He is a founding Trustee of the Board of the Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU). He is a member of the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IOD-Z). Mr Kwaramba's areas of interests include: synergies between industry and research; commercialization of technologies; smallholder agricultural marketing and policy, health-care economics and policy as well as the application of modern business strategies in industrial decision making.
