Mrs Ketiwe Choto joined SIRDC’s Food and Biomedical Technology Institute (FBTI) in 2012 as the Head of Analytical Services and Testing Laboratories.
She holds a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) degree in Chemical Technology from the National University of Science and Technology as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Zimbabwe.
Mrs Choto has over 20 years working experience in the analytical chemistry laboratories. She has worked as a Chemist in Analytical Services Division at the Tobacco Research Board and as a Chief Laboratory Technician at the Chemplex Animal and Public Health Company.
She has accomplished the following (among others) during her working career:
- Formulation and plant design for a fermented sorghum African beverage (mahewu).
- Environmental Impact Assessment for the construction of a water treatment chemical laboratory.
- Agro-industries/food and beverages value chain diagnostic study.
- Determination of nutrients in Zimbabwe’s indigenous small grains and legumes before and after cooking.
