The Production Engineering Institute (PEI) provides research and development expertise in the Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing, Electrical and Chemical Engineering fields.

To develop competitive engineering products, machinery and manufacturing systems for the industrial and socio-economic development of Zimbabwe and the region

Manufacturing Engineering Division:

Completed Projects
Gravity Grinding Mill:
The mill is highly efficient, with one of the highest milling rates of 1.5 tons/h or 70 sec per bucket (20 kg) and has low maintenance costs

Maize Dehuller:
Prototype completed, tested and validated

Re-design of Micro-concrete (MCR) Tile Making Machine:
The institute reverse engineered an MCR tile-making machine
