Philemon Kwaramba: Director & Industrial Economist

Qualifications: Mr Kwaramba holds BSc and MSc degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University of Zimbabwe acquired through SACCAR/GTZ sponsorship; a post-graduate diploma in Agricultural Engineering Systems Analysis (UZ) acquired through UNDP/SIDA sponsorship and an ACCA Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance (UK). He is also a Certified Internal Auditor in quality systems development and a Member of the Zimbabwe Society of Agricultural Engineers (MZSAE).
Positions:
Mr Kwaramba held research economist positions at SADC/ICRISAT, under the Netherlands/DGIS Health Systems Research (HSR), under the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)’s Economic Advisory Project (WISO) and SIRDC’s Business Operations Unit. For 3 years he was the Deputy Programme Manager of the Technology for Industrial Development (TIDE) Programme in Zimbabwe and South East Africa zone (funded by NORAD). He is also a Trustee Board Member: Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU) and is Sub-Committee of the Project Management as well as Human Resources Committees. At SIRDC he is a member of several high-level decision making committees.
Research Interests:
Mr Kwaramba's interests include: commercialization of public sector departments and state enterprises; smallholder agricultural marketing & policy, health-care economics & policy, the impact of HIV/AIDS on agriculture & industry, performance of Zimbabwean Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs); Public Health Transport Management Systems in Africa; commercialization of R&D results and application of modern business strategies in industrial decision making the Stage Gate and Balanced Scorecard; provision of business intelligence and Sector Reform evaluation. Mr. Kwaramba also advises in Professional Project Management; Productivity & Competitiveness Benchmarking; Development of Clusters in Industry and Scientific Report Writing.
