Cleaner Production Centre (CPC)
is a unit under ESI. In 1994, the United Nations Industrial Development
Organisation and the Division of Technology, Industry and Economics
of the United Nations Environment Programme combined their expertise
and resources in an innovative joint initiative that established
National Cleaner Production Centres in many developing countries
in Africa and Asia. The centres were established to help developing
countries and countries with economies in transition to build their
own local cleaner production capacities.
The centre conducts training programmes to develop capacity for
cleaner production. It promotes and demonstrates the use of cleaner
production techniques and technologies that benefit both industry
and the environment.
