ESI GOAL
To provide environmental research, training,
consultancy and advisory services that ensure improved and sustainable
environmental management and resource utilization. To improve and
facilitate the management and protection of natural resources and
the environment by providing tools and solutions for informed decision-making.
ESI OBJECTIVES
- To develop and apply technologies and methods and /or products
for solving environmental challenges in a sustainable manner.
- To research on and contribute to sustainable natural resource
management, protection and utilization.
- To provide technical assistance in environmental management and
cleaner production services, and conduct environmental impact assessments
for development projects.
- To provide technical consultancy and advisory services in environmental
education, management and climate change.
- To build capacity and disseminate information in the private and
public sectors on the use of environmentally friendly and cleaner
production technologies.
- To participate in national, regional and international collaborative
activities and partnerships focusing on environmental management
research and development.
ESI is a full service consulting, research and training centre
that consists of six divisions:
- Natural Resources Management (NRM)
- Industrial Environmental Management/Cleaner Production Centre
(IEM/CPC)
- Environmental Technology
- Waste Management
- Environmental Education, and
- Analytical Services.
The institute is equipped with modern facilities; including a full
range of environmental engineering software; computer hardware,
and field and laboratory equipment for environmental monitoring.
ESI maintains close links with a number of local, regional and
international technical research institutions, government agencies,
specialist consulting firms, specialist laboratories and United
Nations agencies whose services can be secured to meet the needs
of a particular project.
