II. FUEL DIVISION:

Testing of solid, liquid and gas fuels including the following tests:
       - Coal proximate and ultimate
       - Combustion condition determination and optimization
       - Ash analysis
       - Flue gas
Boiler efficiency tests & optimization
Training on industrial boiler operation and control
Consultancy on wide range of fuel resources

III. RENEWABLE ENERGY DIVISION:

- Design and supply of solar systems (including home light, stoves and water pumping).
- Design and supervision of installation of medium and commercial biogas digesters.
- Design and supply of solar streetlights, solar dryers, solar cooker, biomass stoves and solar charging station as per client specification(s).
- Testing of solar system components (battery charge/discharge, tubes life cycle and charge controller operation).
- Testing of performance of variety of biomass stoves and measurement of indoor pollution.
- Testing of burning characteristics of charcoal and saw dust briquette
- Development and installation of integrated renewable energy systems for rural electrification
- Practical training on design, construction and operation of solar home systems, solar water pumping and hydro systems.

In addition to the above, each division in its respective area offers services in product development, implementation, commissioning and assessment.

TEST AND TRAINING FACILITIES:

The institute is proud to claim that it has the most modern training facilities in Africa in solar home systems, solar water pumping and mini/micro hydro systems. It has test facilities for battery, charge controllers and tubes. It also has the most up-to-date laboratory for energy management training. Data downloading, processing and analysis equipment is available. Also available are air pollution measurement equipment, combustion state measurement and fuel analysis equipment. There is also a wide range of electrical test equipment and energy audit kits.
