Geo-Information and Remote Sensing Institute - Divisions
| The GRSI
is structured into three divisions:
1. Natural Resources Management;
2. Earth and Water Resources Management; as well as
3. Land Administration and Facility Management division.
1. Natural Resources Management
division provides technical services and conducts commercially
viable research in the areas of Land Use and Biodiversity Management
including:
i) Agricultural applications
ii) Forestry applications
iii) Wildlife ecology applications
iv) Early warning of natural disasters
2. Earth and Water Resources
Management division provides technical services and conducts
commercially viable research in the areas of specialisation concerned
with earth systems, including:
i) Mineral Exploration
ii) Soil applications
iii) Hydrological applications
iv) Early warning of natural disasters
3. Land Administration
and Facility Management division provides technical services
and conducts commercially viable research in the following areas
of specialisation concerned with governance, including:
i) Surveying and land administration
ii) Land Use Planning
iii) Urban Planning
iv) Facility Management
v) GNSS applications
All divisions of GRSI cherish that the
spatial dimension in data analysis yields different and more meaningful
results than an analysis which ignores it. Therefore all divisions
of GRSI are devoted to apply tools used for spatial data analysis,
specifically: remote sensing; geographical information systems;
as well as the use of Global Positioning Systems. These are accompanied
with any other research techniques (e.g. statistics) required to
make sound conclusions that may result in sound decision making.
