Regional Research Alliance (RRA)

Regional Research Alliance (RRA)

The Regional Research Alliance (RRA) is a network of research and technological organisations (RTOs) that are committed to the promotion of development of Africa.

Currently the RRA comprises the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of South Africa, and the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) of Zimbabwe.

The RRA membership is expected to grow as RTOs in other countries in the region come on board. The Alliance members have expertise in a wide range of disciplines that enables them to carry out joint regional research projects that are of mutual benefit to the countries of the respective member organisations.

Current projects being pursued are in the areas of water and sanitation, food security, renewable energy, and building construction and infrastructure development. Through joint research and development as well as the promotion of highly innovative projects, the Alliance makes a contribution to the improvement of quality of life and the competitiveness of industry in Africa.

The RRA Secretariat is located at the innovation Hub, Pretoria, South Africa and provides marketing, networking, logistical support and coordination services to the members of the Regional Research Alliance.
