Engineer Bernard Makokove is currently the Director of Works & Physical Planning Department at SIRDC since 2007. Engineer Makokove started off his working career in 1988 when he joined the Department of Water in the Ministry of Water Development. He joined as a Junior Engineer and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Engineer.
Engineer Makokove participated in the war of liberation of Zimbabwe. From 2001 to 2005, Engineer Makokove was the Member of Parliament for Chikomba Constituency in Mashonaland East Province. At the expiry of his term as a Legislator, Engineer Makokove joined Welmary Consulting Engineers specialising in irrigation designs.
Engineer Makokove holds a B Sc Civil Engineering (Hons) degree that he obtained in 1987 from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently he is studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Water and Sanitation with the National University of Science and Technology.
