Mr Jabulani Mafu is a founder member of SIRDC. His association with SIRDC dates back to 1989 when he joined the Ministry of Industry and Technology (MIT) and became an ex officio member of the SIRDC steering committee as well as the various SIRDC institute specific committees.
At the MIT he established the Research and Development section of the Ministry’s Technology division.
In 1993 Mr Mafu was appointed General Services Manager designate responsible for coordinating the construction of the SIRDC complex. He officially joined SIRDC as the substantive General Services Manager in March 1994.
He was subsequently appointed Assistant Director for Administration in 2005. In 2006 he joined SIRTECH Investments, a joint venture between SIRDC and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, as Transport and Logistics Manager. He reverted back to SIRDC in 2010 as Logistics Manager and is currently the Acting Director in the Building Technology Institute.
Mr Mafu has considerable amount of working experience in both the public and private sectors. His employment history includes working as a Planning Officer for the Government Printing & Stationery; Assistant Technical Manager for Coates Inks (Central Africa); Chief Technical Officer at the Ministries of Industry & Technology, Industry & Commerce and the Office of the President and Cabinet.
Mr Mafu has also participated in a number of Boards and Committees encompassing the Forestry Commission Board, Printflow Pvt Ltd (formerly Government Printers) Board, Zimbabwe Investment Centre’s Investment Committee, Standards Association of Zimbabwe Executive Committee, Technology Information Promotion System Advisory Committee, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Special Projects committee as well as the Zimbabwe Association of Packaging Executive Committee.
Mr Mafu holds a B Sc (Hons) in Packaging Technology from Watford College in England which he obtained in 1983.
