Dr Leonard Madzingaidzo is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of SIRDC as well as its Executive Director Technical superintending over the work programmes in the twelve SIRDC institutes.
He joined SIRDC in 2000 as a Research Scientist in the Biotechnology Research Institute and briefly assumed the Acting Director position in the Institute before he was appointed substantive Director of another sister institute at SIRDC, the Food and Biomedical Technology Institute in 2003.
He was then elevated to the position of Executive Director Technical in 2005. Before joining SIRDC, Dr Madzingaidzo also had working stints at Dairibord Zimbabwe Limited, Standards Association of Zimbabwe and Cairns Foods Limited.
Dr Madzingaidzo is an accomplished scholar holding a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) degree in Applied Biology and Biochemistry (awarded with distinction) and an M Sc degree in Biotechnology (awarded with merit) by the University of Zimbabwe.
He also acquired a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree in Biotechnology and Biochemical Process Technology (awarded with distinction) by the Vienna University of Agricultural Sciences in Austria.
