Mr Gilbert Shinga Matoi qualified as a school teacher in 1966 and taught at schools in Masvingo for 5 years before moving to Harare in 1971. Mr Matoi joined the Uniformed Forces and taught at Tomlinson Depot School for seven years as Sergeant. On Promotion to Section Officer, he was posted to Police Support Unit Wing as a Curriculum Development Officer, from 1982 to 1985.
On promotion to the rank of Inspector, Mr Matoi was moved to transport department as National Transport and Logistics Officer-In-Charge at Support Unit, from 1986 to 1992.
On promotion to Superintendent, Mr Matoi was moved to Police General Headquarters as Staff Officer Transfers, from 1992 to 1993.
Mr Matoi was later appointed Deputy Officer Commanding Gwanda West District, a post he held until his retirement from the Force in 1998. He attained several management certificates from various Institutes inside and outside Zimbabwe.
Mr Matoi joined SIRDC in July 1998 as Transport, Estate and Security Officer and was later elevated to the post of Estate Manager responsible for the upkeep of the Centre.
