Mrs Shamiso Runyowa is the Cafeteria Manager at SIRDC. She holds an M Sc degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Solusi University. Before joining SIRDC, Shamiso was a Food and Nutrition Teacher for more than two decades. She also taught A-Level Food Science for six years. Additionally, she was Head of Department for the Home Economics Section. Shamiso lectured part time at Solusi University to Undergraduates in Human Nutrition; Therapeutic Nutrition and Food Services Management (large scale catering) during the period she was completing her Masters degree programme. She has also served as an O-Level Food and Nutrition Examiner and Team Leader. Shamiso is a wife, mother and grandmother who is fluent in English, Ndebele and Shona, and conversant in Chewa.
Shamiso has also previously been part of the Girl Guides Association (Rangers Section) and a member of the Zimbabwe Association for Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of Offenders (Kadoma Chapter) and the Zimbabwe Home Economics Teachers Association. She has presented a paper on “Starting up a Food and Nutrition Section and “Equipment Needed during Meetings and Conferences”. She has also written a training manual on “Bakery Skills for Workshops” in conjunction with the Technological and Commercial Information Promotion System at SIRDC. Currently she is co-authoring a “Training Manual for Food Handlers” together with the Food and Nutrition Council at SIRDC.
